How I Prepare for my early (5 AM) classes-Qkids

Hellooo. I am back with another Qkids related blog entry. This time I will be writing about my morning routine before class.

I live on the west coast, and the earliest class I teach is the 5 AM ones. I don’t think I can do the 3 AM ones, but kudos to those who do! You guys are rock starts!! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you are on the fence about applying for Qkids because of the early morning hours/classes, don’t worry! You will adjust. I thought it would be difficult at first too, but after a couple of days, I was well adjusted. I started waking up BEFORE my alarm and I didnโ€™t feel tired during the day. ๐Ÿ˜€ I hardly take any naps now, and I find that, after teaching, I am full of energy and ready for whatever the day brings.

Waking up 25-30 minutes before class time works well. I used to wake up an hour (!!) before, but eventually figured out that that was too much time. I love my sleep, so anything that would give me more it, I would do. โค Below are the different alarms that I have set. One is for 0435 for my 0500 class, one for 0510 for my 0540 class (if I don’t have a 0500 class scheduled) and a 1733 alarm for my 1740 class in the evening. I DO set everything up around 1700 for my evening class, but set an extra alarm for 1733 because sometimes I walk away from “my office” and need a reminder to come back (at least 5 minutes before class time). ๐Ÿ™‚

Waking up 25-30 minutes before class gives me enough time to turn my computer on, log on to the app, check my network, audio as well as video settings, and check for updates. Once everything is checked, I am able to get ready, meaning…I wash my face (with cold water [works wonders,ha!]), brush my teeth, apply some powder on my face and lipstick, then grab a glass of water and a little snack and surf the internet until go time!

I am ready!

Here is what “my office” set up looks like:

I actually work in the garage! It works well; I don’t wake up my husband and kiddos.

After classes are complete for the day, I review the lessons for the next day so that I know what I’m teaching and which games are going to be played. I do this because in case I am not familiar with a game, I could always review the training videos on the app before class. I also take notes!

I usually write down how many slides there are (so I know how long to stay on one slide [for time management]), what types of games/activities there will be and I also write down questions to ask kiddos.

Sometimes classes do switch at the very last minute, but I still think reviewing classes is a good idea. My opinion only.

So yeah, that’s my routine before classes. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚
